Seasons Maldives

Two seasons dominate the weather in the Maldives.

The temperature in the Maldives ranges between 24 and 30 degrees centigrade throughout the year. Humidity is relatively high by this is offset by the cooling sea breezes.

The Maldives have two seasons, the dry season that is associated with the Northeast Monsoon and the rainy season that is brought by the Southwest Monsoon. The annual rainfall is almost half as much again in the southern atolls as it is in the northern ones.

The wet southwest monsoon runs from April until the end of October. The shift from the moist southwest monsoon to the dry northeast monsoon occurs during October and November.

During this period trhe northeast winds contribute to the formation of the northeast monsoon which reaches the Maldives in the begining of December and lasts until the end of March.
