Getting There Thailand    

The main gateway to Thailand is Bangkok International Airport.

 

Most people who visit Thailand arrive through Bangkok. There are daily connecting flights from Europe, North America, most of Asia and Australasia with the worlds major airlines. There are approximately 10-12 daily domestic flights direct from Bangkok to Phuket.

There are also international flights available from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and between November and April there are charter flights from many European Cities directly to Phuket International Airport.

From Bangkok you can travel by air, train or bus to a multitude of destinations throughout Thailand, with flights also available to Koh Samui for your diving holiday in the Gulf of Thailand.

Travelling within Thailand, while it may take some time to get to each destination, is relatively inexpensive. There are various options from bus, train, mini van, private car/taxi or flights on offer to almost all areas within Thailand. Arrangements for travel within Thailand are easily made, once you have arrived in your initial destination, with any number of tourist booking offices in all areas.

 

Money

Almost all currencies and travellers cheques can be exchanged at local banks or money changers. Most larger businesses accept Credit Cards, however many may charge a small commission of 3% or so for doing so. Transfering funds when in Thailand is possible however this is generally a slow process.

 

Visas

Visitors arriving from most Western Countries including North America, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Europe will be provided a 30 days visa on arrival at the airport. Visitors from other countries may be required to obtain a tourist visa before arrival, likewise for all those visitors who wish to stay for a period longer than 30 days. You must ensure that you contact your local Thailand Embassy or Consulate to confirm any visa requirements prior to arranging any travel
